IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s IPL game between Kolkata Knight Riders v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
The Indian Premier League hits Pune again on Wednesday as Kolkata Knight Riders take on Mumbai Indians. This should be a cracker, and you’d have to say the pressure is on Mumbai Indians after their start to the tournament. We’re sure to have plenty of drama, and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of swings in-running on BETDAQ Betting Exchange . I have to say it really feels like a “changing of the guard” this IPL season, both CSK and Mumbai have started very slowly and on paper, their sides don’t look as strong. We will see big changes to the Playoff teams in my opinion this season.
Kolkata Knight Riders would have been delighted with their start to the tournament with two wins from three games. Their batting was very poor in the loss to RCB, but you can really see how strong their bowling is and that will win them a lot of games. It really pays to have a strong bowling line-up in T20 leagues as usually conditions favour the batters and also, batters will come into form eventually! Obviously the KKR batting has to be a big worry but if they bowl first then I don’t see their batters being under pressure that often. This will be a fascinating game with the pressure on Mumbai. They aren’t used to losing, although they have started plenty of IPL tournaments slowly, they don’t have as many stars in their team to produce a comeback these days.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Most of the tournament will be held in the three Mumbai grounds, with only 15 games here. This will be the third fixture at this ground and so far the conditions have looked good for batting. We saw scores of 210/6 and 171/6. I wouldn’t read too much into the first game as Sunrisers Hyderabad look like a poor side again this season, but Delhi failing to chase 171/6 in the second game here would lead me to believe that batting first will definitely offer a slight edge here. I don’t think there’s a question of what to do at the toss, I think you have to bat first.
The toss could be a key factor in this game, so I would keep stakes pretty low before the start of the game. I think KKR are good value here at 2.12 because they have the best bowling in the tournament. The only issue is that their batting is very unreliable, and if they bat first we could see a reasonably low score first, before their bowlers still take the game close trying to defend it. I don’t rate this Mumbai side this year, they look weak on paper and their opening performances have been average. While I feel batting first will offer an edge and could decide the game, I’d still have KKR as slight favourites over Mumbai so I can’t pass on the 2.12.
The Edge Says:
Two points win Kolkata Knight Riders to beat Mumbai Indians at 2.12 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

There’s a lot to debate here. I do feel batting first will offer an edge as I have noted above, however I am worried about the KKR batting. They have the talent, but they are unreliable. It was fantastic to see Andre Russell hit 70 off 31 balls in their last game, but they were still 38/2 early and he won’t come off every time. When he does come off, he wins games quickly though – we all know that. I feel the best angle in-running here will be getting with the KKR bowling while Mumbai bat – the KKR bowling has really impressed this early in the tournament and as I said above, this Mumbai side looks weaker than usual – it’s worth taking them on.
